Trece parejas del condado de Sussex contrajeron nupcias el domingo 14 de Febrero, dia de san Valentin en una emotiva ceremonia en la iglesia de San Miguel en Georgetown.

La idea empezó con una conversación del P. Cesar A. Gomez con su hermana en Colombia, quien le contó que un sacerdote allí había casado a 50!!! Parejas. El P. Cesar pensó: si él pudo yo también podré, aunque sean 10. Y así lo presentó como una oferta a la comunidad, y dijo: “si 10 parejas se deciden a casarse el día de San Valentin, aunque sea domingo, yo los caso y la comunidad les preparara la fiesta.” 25 parejas empezaron la preparación en Septiembre. De ellas 13 decidieron hacerlo ese día, y así fue.

El domingo 14 de febrero, a las 3.30, fue la ceremonia, muy  bonita y emocionante. Las mujeres preciosas en su vestido de novia de color perla, ya que blanco es un símbolo de pureza y todos ellos ya vivían juntos y tenían hijos, los cuales llevaron las arras y los anillos.

En el salón de la parroquia, Kevin Santizo fue el maestro de ceremonias. El mariachi San Miguel Arcangel amenizó la tarde. La comida, preparada por la comunidad Hispana de la parroquia, fue sabrosa y abundante, hasta hubo pizza para los niños. Se brindó con sidra sin alcohol, y al final el pastel precioso, con una fuente y ocho pasteles, hecho y regalado por una señora de la parroquia Lucina Rivas.

Las parejas que contrajeron matrimonio fueron: Juan Chilel y Natividad Martin; Garvins Lopez e Imelda Diaz; Jose Escalante y Benigna Gonzalez; Nestor Sebastian y Marta Martin; German Gonzalez y Edilma Ramirez; Eleazar Velasquez y Norma Garcia; Onorio Perez y Elma Bravo; Galindo Gutierrez y Elvira Perez; Rodrigo Lopez e Irma Perez; Romeo Lopez y Elida Ramirez; Hugo Gonzalez y Celestina Perez; Hector Niz  e  Isabel Niz; Elias Ortiz y Angelina Dionisio

Day of Love Celebration

Thirteen couples in Sussex County were married on Valentine’s Day, Sunday February the 14th,in an emotional ceremony at Saint Michael’s Church in Georgetown.

The idea came to mind in a conversation between Father Cesar A. Gomez and his sister in Colombia, who told him that a priest in her town had married 50 couples! Father Cesar then thought “if he could wed 50 couples, I can too! Even if its only 10.” He thus shared his plan with the community, saying “if 10 couples decide to get married on Valentine’s Day, even if it is a Sunday, I will wed them and the community will throw the party.” Twenty-five couples began the preparation program in September, and of those, thirteen decided to get married on Feb. 14^th.  

The ceremony was held on Sunday February 14^th at 3:30pm, it was an emotive and beautiful celebration. The gorgeous brides wore pearl gowns, white ones (which symbolize purity) weren’t used because the couples already lived together or had kids, and their children carried their wedding bands and unity coins.

Kevin Santizo was the master of ceremony, who set up the party room at the parish. The mariachi San Miguel Arcangel liven up the party and the food, provided by the Hispanic community of the parish, was delicious and abundant, pizza was even served for the kids. The toast was made with alcohol-free cider and there was a lovely cake with a fountain in the middle.
