Lucy Yaneira

Me llamo Lucy Yaneira Sandoval Espinal. Tengo 19 años, y resido en Wilmington, Delaware.

Nací en 1990 en Santiago, República Dominicana. A los 3 años de edad llegue a los Estados Unidos. Mi madre, Ñulka Espinal, desafortunadamente no me pudo criar porque ella vive en la República Dominicana. Sin embargo, tuve el privilegio de crecer con amor y respeto por parte de mi abuela, Felicia Sandoval y de mi padre Ramón Antonio Sandoval en la cuidad de Manhattan, en Nueva York. Desde muy pequeña  pasé mucho tiempo con mi padre en su peluquería. Ver el trato entre él y sus clientes, y la satisfacción que él sentía al saber que sus clientes quedaban muy contentos por los servicios que él proporciona me ayudó a determinar lo que quise llegar a ser, hoy en día soy una cosmetóloga. Disfruto de ser una cosmetóloga al crear nuevos estilos y introducir mis propias técnicas. En el 2008 me gradué de la escuela de Howard High en donde pasé los años más memorables para mí hasta esta fecha. En estos cuatro años que asistí a Howard High, puedo decir que fue la experiencia más inolvidable que he recibido, porque me educaron y me prepararon para la próxima etapa de mi vida.

Actualmente, asisto al Colegio de Delaware Technical Community College en Wilmington donde estudio para gerente empresarial. Mi plan es continuar mi educación en la Universidad de Delaware hasta que obtenga una maestría en la misma carrera. Después de terminar mi educación, planeo establecer mi propio negocio el cual incluye abrir un salón de belleza.

Durante mi tiempo libre, me gusta practicar deportes, pasar tiempo con mi familia y amigos, ayudar a la gente, ir de compras, y escribir. En mi experiencia como cosmetóloga, he tenido la oportunidad de hacer trabajo comunitario con personas de edad avanzada mediante hacerles trabajos de manicures, faciales, y peinados. Ver sus expresiones de felicidad y la alegría, fueron una experiencia muy agradable para mí. Yo creo que todo se puede lograr en esta vida, siempre y cuando se trabaje duro y se tenga fe en sí misma. Estoy muy agradecida y entusiasmada de la oportunidad que se me ha dado de tomar parte en el Certamen  Señorita Hispana de Delaware.

My name is Lucy Yaneira Sandoval Espinal. I’m 19 years old, and I reside in Wilmington, Delaware.

 I was born in 1990 in Santiago, Dominican Republic. At the age of 3 I came to the United States. My mother, Ñulka Espinal, unfortunately couldn’t raise me because she lives in the Dominican Republic.  However, I was still raised with love and respect by grandmother, Felicia Sandoval and my father Ramon Antonio Sandoval in Manhattan, New York. From an early age, I spent a lot of time with my father in his barber shop and seen the bond and the satisfaction that he received knowing that his clients were very pleased with the services he provided helped me to determine what I wanted to become once I grew up, and today I’m a cosmetologist. I enjoy being a hair stylist, creating new styles and coming up with my own techniques.  I graduated from Howard High School of Technology in 2008; those years have been the most memorable so far. As for the four years that I attended High School, I must say was the most unforgettable learning experience I ever received because it educated and prepared me for my next face in life. Currently, I’m attending Delaware Technical Community College in Wilmington and majoring in business management. My plan is to continue my education at the University of Delaware until I obtain my master degree. Once I have achieved all of my education, my future plan is to own a beauty salon and spa. During my free time, I enjoy playing sports, spending time with my family and friends, helping people, shopping, and writing. My experience as a cosmetologist, has given me the opportunity to do community service with seniors by providing them with manicures, facials, and hair styles. Seeing their expressions of happiness and joy was a warmth and satisfying experience for me. I believe that you can accomplish anything in life as long as you work hard and believe in yourself. I’m very thankful and excited to have been given the opportunity to participate in the Miss Hispanic Delaware Pageant.
