Candidata a Señorita Hispana Delaware 2010

Hola me llamo Rebekah Axtell Schuyler Pyne y nací en Newark, DE. Soy una joven de 17 años de edad emocionada de representar mi herencia Venezolana. A la edad de 3, me mudé de Wilmington a Dover, donde vivo con mi madre Keyla Rivero-Rodríguez y mi hermano mayor, Edward Pyne. A una temprana edad, yo mostré interés y pasión por las artes del espectáculo, así como los deportes. Cuando cumplí cuatro años, comencé a tomar clases de ballet y después me inicié en clases de tap y de jazz en el Conservatorio de Danza en Dover. Debido a mi amor y dedicación a la danza, en cualquier oportunidad que tenía, me involucraba en el grupo juvenil de la iglesia y en cualquier otro grupo de danza que podía participar, inclusive, grupos de la escuela y en los programas de arte, tales como Coro, Cheerleading, el Equipo de Baile y Banda. Desde el 5 º grado, yo he estado tocando la flauta, primero en el Central Middle School Band y luego con Dover High School en la Banda de los Senadores, en la cual aún me desempeño. Actualmente me encuentro en mi tercer año en Dover High School y estoy tomando cuatro clases de Colocación Avanzada (AP) y 3 clases de Honores. Académicamente, desde el kindergarten hasta ahora mi tercer año, siempre he mantenido alto promedio en el cuadro de honor y una puntuación de 4, y 5 en las pruebas del DSTP. En la primavera del 2009 gané el Premio de Reconocimiento de Estudiantes Hispanos en el área de las Artes Escénicas y más tarde en el otoño, fui incluida a la Sociedad Nacional de Honor. Yo juego fútbol para el equipo de Damas Senador de Fútbol de DHS y también estoy certificada para árbitro de fútbol. Soy la capitana del Equipo de Danza DHS de juegos de baloncesto, en el cual bailamos en el tiempo de descanso de los juego. En mi tiempo libre, yo hago servicios voluntarios para Hábitat para la Humanidad, así como la enseñanza de baile Hip-Hop para jóvenes escolares. En 2005, fui coronada Miss Pre-Teen Central Delaware, así que no soy ajena a los concursos, pero me siento emocionada con mi participación en el concurso de Miss Delaware Hispanic, porque así podré representar mi herencia Venezolana de la que me siento orgullosa y, porque como la Señorita Hispana de Delaware, podre crear conciencia sobre cuestiones tales como, ser mas ecológicos,  porque yo siento que esto es algo importante para ayudar al medio ambiente y los efectos del calentamiento global, para esta generación y para las futuras generaciones por venir.

Miss Hispanic Pageant Candidate

 Hi my name is Rebekah A.S. Pyne I was born in Newark, DE I am an active 17-year-old young woman that is excited to represent her Venezuelan heritage. At the age of 3, I moved from Wilmington to Dover where I live with my mother Keyla Rivero-Rodriguez and my oldest brother Edward Pyne. At a very young age, I showed an interest and a passion for the performing arts as well as sports. When I turned four, I began taking ballet and later tap dance and jazz classes at the Dance Conservatory in Dover. Because of my love and commitment to my dance, at any chance I had, I would get involved at my church youth group and at any other dance groups that I could get involved in including my school’s performing art programs such as Choir, Cheerleading, Dance Team and Band. Since the 5^th grade, I have been playing the flute, first with the Central Middle School Band and later with the Dover High School the Senator’s Band, were I still play. Currently I am in my junior year at Dover High School and I am taking four Advance Placement (AP) classes and 3 Honor classes. Academically, from kindergarten to now  my junior year, I have always maintained high honor roll status and scoring 4’s and 5’s on DSTP testing. In the spring of 2009, I won the Hispanic Student Recognition Award in the area of Performing Arts and later in the fall, I was inducted to the National Honor Society. I play soccer for the DHS Ladies Senator Soccer team and I am also a certified soccer referee. I am the captain of the DHS Dance Team were at basketball games, we dance at half time. In my free time, I volunteer for Habitat for Humanity as well as teaching young schoolgirls Hip-Hop dance classes. In 2005 I was crowned Miss Pre-Teen Central Delaware, I am no stranger to pageantry, but I feel excited to participate in the Miss Hispanic Delaware Pageant because I can represent my Venezuelan heritage, a heritage that I am proud of and because as Miss Hispanic Delaware, I can bring awareness on issues such as “going green” because I feel that this is something important in order to help the environment and the effects of global warming for this generation and for future generations to come.
