Hola, me llamo Sandra Pineda; nací el 18 de diciembre del 1990 en Michoacán, México.

A los tres años de edad mis padres Gabriel y Eva Pineda decidieron emigrar a Estados Unidos para una mejor vida para mí, y para mis dos hermanos, Uriel y Gabriel Jr. Pineda. Antes de venir a Delaware yo viví en Riverbank, California donde viví toda mi niñez. Aquí en Delaware, yo también asistí a la Superior de Riverbank. Al mantener un promedio encima de 3.0 puntos, tomé parte en la banda, el voleibol, powderpuff, y el baile.

Uno de mis momentos fuera del programa de estudios más emocionantes fue durante mi noche Bilingüe de la escuela, en que mi equipo de Baile ganó tercer lugar contra todos los equipos locales y de larga distancia de baile de escuela. Aparte de actividades de escuela, yo disfruto ayudando con recolección y entrega de comida enlatada durante Navidad y vacaciones de Acción de gracias. Esto es porque creo que la pobreza es un asunto grande para la comunidad hispana. Venida de una familia con recursos muy limitados, nosotros tuvimos que atravesar tanto para llegar a donde estamos ahora, así que puedo relacionar con lo que es luchar para necesidades básicas.

Aquí en Wilmington Delaware también asistí a la Escuela Superior de John Dickinson; sin embargo, yo estaba tan agobiada con el movimiento reciente que decidí matricularme en la educación en la casa. Esta decisión me benefició ayudándome a enfocar más en mis estudios sin las distracciones regulares de la escuela. Con el tiempo aprendí a ser una señorita más independiente y responsable. Me daba cuenta que tenía mucho tiempo libre, entonces yo asistí a la Escuela de modelaje profesional Barbizon donde yo me dí cuenta de que todo es posible sin importar de donde vengas. Lo más importante es desear y entonces tener éxito en lo que usted aspira ser. Personalmente, aspiro ser una abogada de Inmigración y Modista. Sin embargo, uno de mis aspiraciones más importantes es ayudar a la comunidad en una manera significativa relacionada a la pobreza. Espero que mis experiencias personales con la pobreza puedan inspirar a muchas personas, mostrándoles que es posible prosperar a pesar de todos los obstáculos.

Hello my name is Sandra Pineda; I was born December 18, 1990 in Michoacán, Mexico.

At three years of age my parents Gabriel and Eva Pineda decided to immigrate to the United States of America for a better life for me and my two brothers, Uriel and Gabriel Jr. Pineda. Before coming to Delaware I lived in Riverbank, California where I lived all of my childhood. Here in Delaware, I also attended Riverbank High School. While maintaining a grade point average above 3.0, I participated in band, volleyball, powder-puff, and dancing. One of my most exciting extracurricular moments was during my school’s Bilingual night, in which my Dance team won third place against all local and long distance school dance teams. Aside from school activities, I enjoy helping with the canned food drives during Christmas and Thanksgiving holidays. This is because I believe poverty is a big issue for the Hispanic community. Coming from a family with very limited resources, we had to go through so much to get to where we are now, so I can relate to what is like to struggle for basic necessities. Here in Wilmington Delaware I also attended John Dickinson High School; however, I was so overwhelmed with the recent movement that I decided to enroll in Home Schooling. This decision benefitted me by helping me focus more on my academics without the distraction of a regular school setting. With the time, I learned how to be a more independent and responsible young lady. Noticing that I had much free time, I joined Barbizon School of Modeling where I realized that everything is possible no matter what your roots are. The most important thing is to desire and then succeed at what you aspire to be. Personally, I aspire to be an Immigration Lawyer and Fashion Designer. However, one of my most important aspirations is to help out the community in a significant way related to poverty. I hope that my personal experiences with poverty may inspire many people by showing them that it is possible to thrive against all odds.
