Three Gang Members Arrested
Officers Witness Attempted Robbery, Three Gang Members Arrested
New Castle County Police have arrested three teenage male subjects who have been found to be members of a local Hispanic gang. All three were arrested after a team of police officers observed them attempting to rob a victim at gunpoint in the Woodfield Apartments.
On Wednesday (9/16), seven New Castle County Police Officers were assigned to a community stabilization assignment in the Woodfield Apartments. At 11:06 p.m., the officers observed three male subjects walk toward a white van that was parked near 4625 Patrician Blvd. The officers noted one of the male subjects had his face concealed with a blue bandana while holding a gun in his hand.
The subjects started to shout at the male occupant of the van as they were attempting to rob him at gunpoint. The victim proceeded to drive off at a high rate of speed as the officers converged on the suspects. All three suspects ran off in different directions and were initially able to elude capture.
The victim indicated he was inside his van when the three suspects approached him and brandished a handgun and a knife. They then tried to rob him, but he fled before they could get anything of value.
While searching for the suspects, police received information that they suspects may have entered an apartment in an adjacent building. The officers responded to the apartment and contacted the resident who allowed them to search the dwelling. All three suspects were found as they were trying to hide on the floor of a rear bedroom. All three were taken into custody after police found the bandana, a knife and pellet gun that resembled a real handgun.
All three male suspects have been identified as gang members. (NOTE: the identity of the gang is being withheld as to not give them credibility.) The following suspects have been charged with attempted robbery, resisting arrest, and related weapon offenses:
