El Festival de Música Ladybug regresa a Wilmington
Si las lluvias de abril traen flores en mayo, el Festival de Música Ladybug no se queda atrás.
El festival encabezado exclusivamente por mujeres regresa a Wilmington el 31 de mayo y, aunque no regresará a Milford este año, tiene un segundo evento programado para 2024.
La directora ejecutiva de Ladybug, Gayle Dillman, dice que Ladybug se dirige a Ellicott City en Maryland el 29 de junio en su búsqueda de llevar su concepto más allá del Primer Estado.
“Entonces, con eso en mente, realmente comenzamos a expandirnos con diferentes productos, y una de las cosas que hicimos fue llevar a Ladybug a diferentes comunidades fuera de Delaware”.
Pero Dillman señala que también continúan explorando más opciones en Delaware.
El festival Ladybug se fundó en 2012 y se autodenomina la celebración gratuita más grande de las mujeres en la música del país.
Y este año, el cartel del festival se internacionaliza. Las presentaciones para actuar vinieron de Irlanda, Francia y Canadá, junto con 21 estados diferentes, y han reservado esos actos internacionales.
Dillman de Ladybug dice que seleccionaron la alineación de Wilmington 2024 a partir de las presentaciones recibidas y planean hacerla pública la próxima semana. “Vinieron de 21 estados diferentes y tres países. Así que atrajimos a artistas de Irlanda, Francia y Canadá, y los contratamos para nuestro evento. Ahora podemos decir que somos algo internacionales”.
Ladybug Music Festival returns to Wilmington
If April showers bring May flowers, the Ladybug Music Festival is not far behind.
The all-female-fronted festival is back in Wilmington on May 31st, and while it will not return to Milford this year, it has a second event scheduled for 2024.
Ladybug’s CEO Gayle Dillman says Ladybug heads to Ellicott City in Maryland on June 29th as it seeks to take its concept beyond the First State.
“So, with that in mind, we’ve really started to branch out with different products, and one of the things we did was to push Ladybug out to different communities outside of Delaware.”
But Dillman notes they also continue to explore more options in Delaware.
The Ladybug festival was founded in 2012 and calls itself the largest, free celebration of women in music in the country.
And this year, the festival lineup goes international. Submissions to play came from Ireland, France and Canada – along with 21 different states – and they have booked those international acts.
Ladybug’s Dillman says they’ve selected the 2024 Wilmington lineup from submissions received and plan to make it public next week.
“They came from 21 different states and three countries. So we attracted artists from Ireland, from France and from Canada, and we have booked those artists for our event. So now we can say we’re kind of international.”
